“ My name is Myra. I am Team Leader at Kings Road, LD Supported Living Service. 

I have worked in the Care Sector for almost 40 years and have enjoyed almost every moment of it. 

I originally worked as a Special needs Teaching Assistant, with children and young adults aged between 2 and 19, with Physical and Learning Disabilities for over 20 years, in addition to supporting people with Autism and profound Learning Disabilities for over 10 years. 

In 2011, when I joined Care Assist,  I moved to Mental Health, where for 12 years,  I supported people with various mental health issues and Dementia first as a Support worker and latterly as a Team Leader in our Whitehall Road Service. 

In February of last year, I "returned to my roots" , when I was asked to oversee the Learning Disability Service at Kings Road. This was originally a temporary move, which I am happy to say, soon became permanent, and I am now leading the team here. 

I feel passionately about helping the people that we support to try to achieve their goals and to live their best lives and feel so proud of them when they do, and of my team for making this possible. ”
