I was born in March 1984. I have two older, half-sisters and one younger sister, Lucy. I grew up in Ealing and lived in the family home until 2003 when I got my own flat.
Unfortunately, the period between 2003 and 2007 was not a happy time in my life. My parents separated, I was in an abusive relationship with my boyfriend, was suffering from Depression and was taking illicit drugs and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol which led to me being very vulnerable and open to exploitation from others. I was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia in 2004 and began treatment for this condition and for Depression. However, I still continued to drink excessively and to smoke Cannabis which inhibited the positive effects of the medication and made my behaviour aggressive and challenging.
I began to self-neglect, did not eat properly, would not wash and was unable to care for myself. During this period I gave birth to a son, who I was unable to care for due to my poor state of mental health, so he was taken into Foster care.
In 2007 I was admitted to the Psychiatric ward at Ealing Hospital after threatening my sister with a knife. At the time I was suffering from delusions and hallucinations and believed that my sister was an ‘imposter’ who was trying to harm me.
Between 2007 and 2010 I had to be admitted several times to the Psychiatric ward following incidents of self-harm, suicidal thoughts and aggressive behaviour. I spent several months at a time in the hospital, during which times I absconded on numerous occasions and would wander the streets at night which made me very vulnerable to danger.
I eventually moved into Park Drive in May 2010 and I have lived there happily ever since. I have only had one setback during this time. That was last year in June 2012 when I absconded from the service for a week and did not take my medication, leading to me suffering a relapse and having to be sectioned and admitted to Ferneley Ward at Northwick Park Hospital. I remained there from the 15th of June until the 22nd of October, when I was well enough to return to Park Drive.
